I need cover for…

AAMI cover: the main choices.

For cataracts or joint replacements

Start by examining Silver Advantage and Gold. Silver Everyday does not cover these categories. The two Silver Plus labels do not mean identical cover.

Compare hospital inclusions

For everyday extras

Starter Boost adds major dental to Starter's range. Moving to Everyday Active adds services such as psychology, but does not increase the single-policy optical limit above Starter Boost's $200.

Compare the cover, not just the premium

The selected Silver Everyday alternatives differ on insulin pumps, pain management with a device and rehabilitation. See what changes before choosing a lower premium.

About these examples

Starter Boost → Everyday Active
Both single-policy examples have a $200 optical limit and a $350 physiotherapy limit. But Boost shares physio with chiropractic and osteopathy; Everyday Active separates its physio limit and adds psychology. The reason to upgrade is the wider benefits you need, not an assumption that every cap rises.
Premium Active's higher benefit examples
The optical/physio examples move from 60% to 70%, with a $250 optical limit and $500 physio limit for the Single-policy example.Weigh those increases against the premium.
Why AAMI's shared limits and waiting periods matter

The selected optical examples have a six-month waiting period.

What the differences mean for you

Both alternatives have lower example premiums for this profile. That does not make their cover identical. A lower premium can come with different treatment benefits. Check whether these differences matter for the cover you need.

  • Rehabilitation: included with AAMI and HCF; restricted with Bupa.

  • Insulin pumps: included with AAMI; not included with Bupa and HCF.

Who provides AAMI health insurance?

AAMI health insurance is issued by nib Health Funds Ltd. An AAMI policy is not necessarily identical to a policy sold under another nib brand, so compare the actual policy terms and price.

Can I combine AAMI hospital and extras?

Yes, AAMI offers hospital, extras and the option of combining them. The separate tables on this page do not calculate a combined quote or account for any offer.

Does AAMI health insurance include ambulance cover?

AAMI says its hospital and extras covers include unlimited emergency ambulance cover, with a one-day waiting period. This includes eligible emergency transport by a state or territory ambulance service and emergency call-outs where transport is not needed.

Emergency cover does not mean every non-emergency trip is covered. AAMI describes certain hospital transfers as eligible when the original hospital cannot provide the required specialist treatment. For planned transport or other transfers, confirm the conditions with AAMI. Your state or territory arrangements may also matter, so check the policy statement for your location.
